Software development factory (Dev Factory)
To further strengthen the collaboration between business and IT, nexeye and Itility established the Dev Factory. Within this team, business analysts, software developers, testers, scrum masters, architects, and a factory lead work together in multidisciplinary teams consisting of nexeye employees, Itility consultants, and specialized external developers.
The Dev Factory provides a structured approach to developing and delivering new functionality. By working with a clear Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, teams have a shared understanding of when work is ready to start and which criteria a feature must meet before it can be considered complete. In addition, priorities are jointly determined for each sprint and project, allowing teams to focus on delivering the functionality that adds the most value at that moment.
This way of working forms the foundation for several initiatives within nexeye, including the rollout of the new Point of Sale system, nexOS.
The nexOS migration
This rollout of the new POS system, nexOS, was the largest project at nexeye. The system has now been successfully implemented in Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, replacing the legacy POS system. Last month, we started a new greenfield expansion project.
During these migrations, Itility supported nexeye in several areas. Consultants were involved in the preparation and execution of the migrations, including testing, project management, and the analyses required to ensure a controlled transition to the new system. Close collaboration with business stakeholders was essential. We demonstrated that our strong stakeholder management skills contributed to the success of the projects.
The migration of 280 eyes+more stores in Germany and Austria is the most important milestone to date. During a single go-live, more than 1,600 store employees were provided with a new POS system. This was the largest rollout since the start of our collaboration with nexeye and the first project in which Itility’s standard way of working was applied from the outset.
A scalable foundation for continued growth
The most recent and final migration took place in the Netherlands, where more than 25 eyes+more stores were migrated to nexOS. With this migration, the legacy POS system can be fully phased out. As a result, all eyes+more stores now operate on the same platform as the Hans Anders stores, supporting the further development of the IT landscape.
Throughout the various migrations, planning, dependencies, and risks were continuously monitored, while sufficient flexibility was maintained to respond to new developments and changes in scope. This combination of preparation, collaboration, and a structured way of working made it possible to complete the rollouts on schedule across multiple countries.
Now that nexOS is live in five countries, and with a proven track record and project management approach, including the strong trust built with key business stakeholders, we continue to confidently deliver value across the IT roadmap.
